Mayco's Crystalite glazes can be applied to wet clay or bisque pieces to create dramatic, colorful and one-of-a-kind pieces. Each color contains tiny bits of glass that burst into color and create intricate patterns when being fired. In the same family as Jungle Gem glazes, these are recommended for decorative items only, and are not food safe. • “Art in a Jar!” Unleash your creativity with low/mid-high fire (Cone 06-10) Mayco Jungle Gems Crystal Glazes for wet clay, unfired or leather-hard clay, and bisque. Add color and depth to your designs with ease. No two pieces will be the same!
• Use on earthenware, stoneware, or porcelain clay bodies. For best results, shake well and stir colors before and during application.
• When applying to wet/leather-hard clay, limit coverage to 2 coats (including any design work), then fire to Cone 04, leaving an area on the bottom or back unglazed for outgassing during firing; if applying to Cone 04 bisque, use 2-3 coats, then fire to Cone 06/05 or higher if desired. The glazes perform well at Cone 5/6 and produce interesting results.
• Gorgeous crystal liquid ceramic pottery glazes will bloom into brilliant colors with beautiful, variegated patterns as small pieces of glass frit burst during the firing process.
• Use alone or in glaze combination blending with Mayco Stroke & Coat, Mayco Foundations, or Mayco Cobblestone Glazes; also compatible with luster glazes. Jungle Gems are not recommended for dinnerware because of the surface characteristics of the glazes after firing.
